Wooden educational toys are preferred by parents all over the world, because they are environmental friendly and do not have sharp edges that can harm children. They are also highly durable and are a wise investment for learning, enjoying and giving as gifts to friends and relatives.

Wooden puzzles are great for teaching children problem-solving skills and hand-eye coordination. An elegant wooden educational toy like a bead sequencing set, introduces children to complex spatial processing. This toy teaches hand to eye coordination, matching and sorting colors and advanced reasoning skills. Wooden toys in the shapes of puzzles and jigsaws that tease the intellect are very popular playthings for small children. They entertain children, while helping them develop their lateral thinking skills.

Puzzles, jigsaws, shapes, buildings with different pictures and in different shapes are a few commonly found wooden educational toys. These wooden toys, because of their colorful looks and solid structure, make great companions for infants.

There are wooden educational toys for all ages. Baby toys like wooden alphabet and alphanumeric blocks are soft and colorful. They are crafted for safety and durability, and are designed to stir a child’s senses and curiosity. Other wooden toys for children include different kinds of animals, sorter pounding toys, vehicles and action toys. Most toy manufacturing companies have their own websites and offer a facility to order online.

Retro toys are no longer a thing of the past, they have sustained a new lifeline with today’s generation and, most likely, will be around for the next. The reason for their staying power is simple: good quality entertainment, low-tech and easy to use, and they afford a creative outlet for kids to burn off their excess energy.

Toy manufacturers spend a great deal of time and money in an effort to create the “cool” kid’s toys each year. These companies spend millions of dollars trying to create a buzz about their newest offerings in the hopes that they will become the next big thing and make significant profits. And while many of these toys are simple novelties that never catch on, there are others that are consistently listed as top sellers.

In today’s high-tech world, electronic toys are by far the most popular type of toy currently on the market. Advanced electronics that ten years ago would’ve been considered the stuff of science fiction are now so popular that they are actually considered “toys”. They include They include a wide range of different products, from video games to remote control vehicles and can cost anywhere from a few to several hundreds of dollars, from video games to remote control vehicles and can cost anywhere from a few to several hundreds of dollars.

Video games have been at the top of the “cool kid’s toys” list for at least the last two to three decades. Ever since the computer was the first video game were available in a console for use at home, these toys have only increased in popularity with each passing year. Today’s video games are vastly superior to those of just ten years ago, often including life-like graphics and highly interactive game-play.

Music players have also become so popular that they are usually given as children’s toys. These items have quite literally revolutionized the way we listen to music, and their popularity has helped to drive the costs down. It is not uncommon to see children as young as seven or eight years old walking to school with one of these devices in their hand. Many of the newer versions of these devices can also be used to surf the Internet, make phone calls, and of course, play video games.

There are also a host of other electronic devices that can make for cool kid’s toys. For younger children that are learning to read, eReaders can be found in models specifically designed for kids. Digital cameras can also be a great toy idea for children, with many companies that sell kid-friendly versions. Even laptop computers are available in designs that are made just for kids.

Retro toys are no longer a thing of the past, they have sustained a new lifeline with today’s generation and, most likely, will be around for the next. The reason for their staying power is simple: good quality entertainment, low-tech and easy to use, and they afford a creative outlet for kids to burn off their excess energy.

1. Hoola-Hoop.

The Hoola-Hoop was the life of the party, set to your favorite tunes and artists for competitions with the girl next door or solitary enjoyment. Toys that engage children in physical activity never go out of style, and they are a great way to release the endorphins and keep everybody happy.

2. Easy Bake Oven.

Often imitated, but never surpassed, the Easy Bake Oven is still on the market today. Who can forget that classic 50′s style oven in pop-art pink and purple with the ready made pan baking up your favorite flavored cake? The Easy Bake Oven is a snap to operate and can be mastered by young chefs under 10. Cake mix refills and frosting kits will keep your little ones busy with decorating, serving and eating.

3. Twister.

Released in 1966, the Twister game has never missed a beat when friends got together to test their balance and agility skills. The game consists of a plastic mat with a series of dots in color codes and line formation. When the leader spins the wheel, he or she calls:”right foot yellow” or “left hand green”, and the players must scramble to place themselves on the right color without tumbling over. Twister takes some practice, but its one of those all-time classics that will last another century.

4. Etch-A-Sketch.

The Etch-A-Sketch art pad is a great way for kids to pass the time in a car, plane or train. The two knobs control a series of lead pencil-like lines that can be pulled in all directions to form a picture. Your child can draw a work of art without the use of crayons, paint or anything that could make a mess and its a clever tool to stimulate your child’s creative energy. The Etch-A-Sketch retro toy remains a value for the money and its durable design resists cracking, scratching and part separation through breakage.

5. Hot Wheels.

The Hot Wheels collection of cars and trucks was one of the biggest sensations from Mattel in the 1970′s and is still drawing a big fan base today. The cars have all been updated for the here and now, but the excitement of getting your next dream machine for your collection hasn’t waned a bit over the last 40 years. These classic retro toys are still sold nationwide and even have their own online connection at HotWheels.com.

There are plenty of these toys available online. There are electronic kittens, puppies, cats, hamsters, even ponies! Their prices are not too high either, if you take into consideration that you won’t have to pay to feed them or take them to the vet. Yet, do be warned, many of these toys have tons of accessories, so that can be a bit expensive. On the positive side, the accessories can be offered as bonus for good behavior, etc.

One of the most popular electronic toys online this year is the Zhu Zhu pet hamster. If you have ever had a real hamster, then you know these particular creatures can be a bit “delicate.” In other words, they may not have a very long life span. The ZhuZhu pet hamster doesn’t have that problem (unless it gets stomped on, ouch). These electronic toy pet hamsters also have a huge selection of accessories that make playing with them a lot of fun.

Other popular electronic toy pets come from the FurReal Friends by Hasbro. They have a selection of lifelike cats, kittens, puppies, tiny dogs, a panda, even a chimp. These cuddly toys move and make sounds just like the real animal. Some people even mistake them for real animals.

Cute electronic toy pets can teach your children how to take care of a real pet someday. This is especially helpful for parents of very small children who may wish to add a puppy, kitten or other small animal to their family. Yet, they hesitate because they may feel their child or children may hurt the tiny animal. With an electronic toy pet, the parents can show their children how to hold the electronic pets properly and even monitor their behavior. Once they see their children have learned what not to do, they may feel they can then add a small animal to their family.

If your child or children are asking for a pet, yet it is not a feasible option for the family at this time, then you may wish to consider purchasing an electronic toy pet. Remember, they don’t eat, won’t bite or scratch or make a mess. They are actually the perfect pet.

When it comes to teaching a small child lessons they need to succeed in school and life in general, few things can compare to educational toys. Masking learning in fun, these toys challenge the child’s mind and abilities and help them learn skills that can last a lifetime.

Whether they’re toys for babies or older girls, educational toys come in a wide variety of styles, but each has the common thread of providing something more than just fun. The best part about educational toys is that they often can get the entire family in on the act of helping the child learn.

Here are some basic types of educational toys for girls:

* Board games. Whether they are simply for fun or they’re meant to teach words, letters, numbers or science facts, board games are a fantastic way for a little one to learn a lot of life’s more important lessons
. Team play sometimes is included and when it’s not, good sportsmanship and a sense of fairness is. Through games young girls can learn a number of valuable educational lessons while also learning how to conduct themselves with grace whether they win or lose.

* Computer games. These tend to be single-player, especially for young girls, but even the more “frilly” of games come with some serious lessons. Youngster can learn eye-hand coordination, reading skills, math, science, history and more through this route. All in all, computer games should not be overlooked for little girls. In fact, there are many titles out there specifically designed for them.

* Hobby items. Whether it’s a paint by number or a baker’s set, these items are great for teaching girls to follow instructions and sometimes even how to improvise. Lessons with these can include hands-on skills, directions, chemistry and more.

* Gender specific toys. Action figures, baby dolls and so on all help a child develop social skills. While “dolls” may be considered the realm of the girls, they can help any youngster develop important life skills by allowing them to mimic good behaviors they see in their peers and adults around them.

* Household type toys. Whether it’s a baby lawn mower or a kitchen set, these toys help children work their imaginations and their role play skills. Along they way, they can develop a sense of fun to bring into everyday mundane chores down the road.

Little girls just like little boys need fun and stimulation to grow their minds and their imaginations. There are a number of toys that appeal to both and then there are more gender specific ones.

Either way, these toys are vital for helping a child build and develop great skills that will help them down the road.

There are roughly four basic stages you should consider when choosing toys that will capture your baby’s interest and benefit their growth. Some of those suggestions are listed below:

Toys for newborns: During the first few months before learning to grasp objects or sit up on their own, your baby will enjoy having things to look at and listen to. Your baby’s vision will still be fuzzy at first and focus will be limited to objects from eight to fourteen inches from their face. Babies are drawn to faces and can recognize mom and dad’s faces at the age of one month. Babies at this age thoroughly enjoy looking at high contrast patterns and bright colors. They will also appreciate sounds and music. Objects that move around slowly and make music such as mobiles will be of particular interest.

A mobile can be a fascinating visual source for a newborn baby. Choose mobiles with high contrast colors and patterns that will be the most interesting for your baby. Many babies are especially fond of musical mobiles so you definitely want to keep that in mind when deciding on one for your baby. Be sure to mount the mobile out of the baby’s reach and either directly above or to the right of the baby’s field of vision.

As mentioned previously, babies love music so even a music box or a wind up musical toy will be a great choice for your baby.

Another thing babies love is a mirror. Babies are very attracted to faces and will not realize that they are looking at their own face in the mirror. Make sure that the mirror is unbreakable and fasten it where they can see themselves.

Plush toys that make noises are a favorite. These toys will keep your baby’s attention for a long time.

Is your outdoor toy collection looking a bit lacklustre? You are in luck; as we have compiled a list of ten fun outdoor toys to get your imagination going. These include:

1. Trampolines. Ever since the trampoline was first introduced to global audiences by its creators, George Nissen and Larry Griswold back in 1934, adults and children alike have been enjoying hours of bouncing fun. Originally intended as a training tool for tumblers and gymnasts, the pair soon realised the trampoline’s commercial value as an outdoor toy and began marketing it as such. And best of all – there is no need to dig a great big hole in your backyard. Most toy stores now carry collapsible trampolines that can be folded up for easy storage when it is not in use.

2. Skates, rollerblades and skateboards. Skating is a great way to stimulate hand-eye coordination and children enjoy it to boot. These fun outdoor toys come in a great variety of colours and styles, so shop around until you find a pair your child will enjoy.

3. Play centres. Adored by the preschool crowd, play centres are also a great way to keep your backyard tidy. Having a whole bunch of separate toys lying around can quickly get messy, that is why a toy centre is such a wonderful idea – it combines a variety of toys without taking up too much space. A handy tip: Little Tikes outdoor toys have a great range of affordable play centres that include the Climb ‘n Slide Castle, as well as the cute Turtle Sandbox. The latter even comes with a lid that you can close so that the sand doesn’t get wet in the event of an April shower.

4. Balls, bats and Frisbees. Heading down to the beach? Don’t forget the beach bats! And what about a Frisbee to keep the youngsters busy while you catch up on your tan? Frisbee no longer has to be a predictable, repetitive game either. Add a bit of excitement to your game with the Nite Ize FlashFlight Blue LED Frisbee. This fun outdoor toy boasts LED illumination and it is waterproof, making it perfect for swimming pool games.

5. Fort building materials. There is nothing like a great, big DIY project to pull the family together, so why not build a tree house this summer? Pick out a nice sturdy tree, get a plan off the internet and Bob is your proverbial uncle. Not lucky enough to have a great big tree in your yard? Then simply build a fort. Materials that will come in useful include rope, cold glue, hard board/chip board, plastic sheeting, water soluble PVA paint and a staple gun. (Please note that the use of a staple gun should always be supervised by a responsible adult.)

And there you have it – a few ideas that should spice up your outdoor toy collection in no time at all. What are you waiting for? Make a list and head out to buy those fun outdoor toys right now!

Unlike plastic toys, an eye for detail is needed to craft great looking wooden toys such as trains, horses, or even lady bugs. These toys are usually quite costly.

However, plastic eventually starts to replace wood when it comes to making toys and its cheaper for mass production. Hence, many toy makers switched to plastic.

In history, the Germans are well known to create high quality wooden toys since the seventeenth century.

These toys have been very popular because they are pollution free, and therefore friendly to the environment.

Young children can also benefit from wooden toys greatly because toys like wooden puzzles help a child’s mind to grow.

But do you know where to source for antique wooden toys? You can find some really great deals online. Deals come from auction sites or online toy retailers. If you are lucky, you may be the proud owner of a vintage wooden toy. But be forewarned, if the deal is too good to be true, it probably is.

In the education field, many wooden toys such as wooden beads, mazes, puzzles and blocks are used. This is because they don’t get damaged easily and can be used many times over. Also, it doesn’t matter if the child is a boy or girl. There will be wooden toys that is ideal for them. For example, boys can choose to play with wooden horses, while girls can choose to play with miniature wooden toys.

Now ask yourself: Why do you think wooden toys have always remained so popular? They have remained as one of the top collector’s choice because they come in so many different forms. The price of a wooden toy depends very much on its age and general condition. The older it is, and the better the overall condition, the more valuable it will be.

The one thing that separates wooden toys from all the other toys is that it seems to last forever. Small little wooden toys are the ideal candidate for gifts. Both adults and children will love them.

Compared to plastic toys, wooden toys are more durable, and can usually last for generations. There is also variety. Wooden toys range from toy trains, puzzle blocks, to rocking horses.

If the wooden toy is made for young children, make sure that the paint on it is non-toxic. In recent years, toys made from wood are making a come back. And for good reasons.

There is nowhere that wooden toys cannot exist – they can be found both indoors and outdoors. Maintenance for wooden toys is very simple. Use a wet cloth to clean the surface, and spray the toy with an inhibitor if you want. Wooden toys such as wooden furniture, doll houses, or kitchen play sets all allow children to development their imagination to the fullest.

Simplicity is never a bad thing. Battery operated toys are not as effective as wooden toys when it comes to encouraging young children to think. Toy collectors like collecting wooden toys more because they are more durable. And although plastic toys cost less than wooden toys, they often break more easily, making them less desirable to keep in a collection.

When you are setting up your toy store, take a look at the competition to see what products are selling well. You can ask other retail toy sellers where they get their toys from and perhaps that retailer will share his source with you.

Another great way to find wholesale toys is to visit trade shows. Trade shows are an excellent place to pick up merchandise. All of the wholesalers will be under one roof so you are able to pick and choose the toys that are priced right and that are good sellers. Trade shows are not open to the public, meaning you will have to show that you have a legitimate business by providing a tax id number at the door. They may require that you show other proof that you are indeed a retailer before admitting you to the show.

Going straight to the manufacturer is another great way to find wholesale toys to purchase. You can find the contact information for manufacturers by simply checking the contact information on the labels of the toy products you are interested in selling. Simply call the manufacturer and tell them that you are impressed with their product and ask if they are willing to sell directly to you. Often they will be willing to sell to you because, after all, they are in business to do just that-sell. If they refuse, then ask who their distributer is so that you can contact them.

You next best bet is to check with the distributors. Their prices will be a bit higher than getting the toys directly from the manufacturer, so keep this in mind. Distributors are eager to sell and you can often purchase smaller quantities from them. Some distributors may even be willing to offer free shipping.

By checking liquidation sales locally, you have a great chance to find wholesale items to sell. Large retail stores have ‘liquidation sales’ wherein they try to get rid of items that they have too many of or that are not selling well in their stores. You can check local classified ads or simply call the larger retailers in your area to ask if they are liquidating any of their toy products.

Finding a great wholesale source does take a big of foot work, patience and just a bit of luck. This is half the battle when you are going to be selling any product. In summary, the best place to acquire your products for your store is the local trade shows. The trade shows is where all the big suppliers meet at one place. You are able to browse through literally thousands of items before making your selection.
